Venue: Open Space Theatre, 55 Whiting Road

by Karen Bassett

At the height of piracy’s Golden Age, two of history’s most famed female pirates sit awaiting execution for their crimes.

Disguised as men, Irish swashbuckler Anne Bonny and English privateer-turned-pirate Mary Read looted, plundered and outfought many of their male counterparts throughout the Caribbean before being captured and sentenced to hang.

Clashing sword fights, brutal wrestling matches and sharp-as-a-blade humour bring these historical figures to the stage to explore what a life well lived truly is.

Please be advised this performance contains occasional use of strong language, violence, mature themes or subject matter and is intended for mature audiences.

Wednesday, March 18 at 7:30 pm will be a Pay What You Wish performance.

Theatre New Brunswick is offering a few “Pay What You Wish” opportunities on select performances. Here’s how it works:

You still need a ticket. Book your seats in advance by calling the box office at 458-8344 or visiting 686 Queen Street. If you don’t book in advance, tickets will be available at the door, although seating may be limited.

At the performance, we will provide an opportunity for audience members to pay whatever amount they wish (based on their own individual experience).

The objective of “Pay What You Wish” is to increase access to our programs, and to encourage our patrons to take a chance on new and exciting performances.
