COVID-19 Measures

We are working hard to make your visit to the Playhouse a pleasant and safe one. We are all doing our part to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We thank our patrons for playing their part in this effort.

– The Fredericton Playhouse Team

Orange vs. Yellow phase

Given the restrictions during Orange phase, we are not able to host public events until our health zone returns to the Yellow phase. Information on upcoming shows can be found here or on the Playhouse’s Facebook page. In the event of a show cancellation or reschedule due to COVID-19 restrictions, all ticketholders will be contacted to receive a refund, or keep their tickets for the new date.

Audience seating

Seating in the auditorium has been reduced to 35% of our usual capacity with parties of one (1) to six (6) patrons from the same household or “close-contact bubble” separated by a minimum of 1 metre from other parties.

Purchasing tickets

Tickets for performances with our reduced capacity are available in person and by phone only. Online purchases are not available for these performances. Please call us at 506-458-8344 or visit us at 686 Queen Street.

Our Box Office is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday and 3 hours before show times.

To reduce the handling of paper tickets, we strongly encourage our patrons to receive their “print-at-home” tickets by e-mail or downloaded to their smart phones.

Ticket holders who are unable to attend should contact the box office for return options.

Arriving for a performance

Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each performance. Patrons are discouraged from arriving earlier but should allow sufficient time to enter the building and be in their seats before curtain time.

How to enter the building

Patrons will enter through the front lobby doors of the Playhouse. A special entrance and cordoned off area of the lobby is reserved for patrons visiting the box office.

Screening & sanitizing

Patrons will be asked to read a series of screening questions and use hand sanitizer upon arrival. Those unable to attend the event as a result of answering the screening questions will be referred to the box office for a refund.

Face masks

As per government orders for 1-metre distanced seating in theatres, face masks must be worn by all patrons at all times while in the Playhouse (before, during, and after the show). Disposable masks will be made available to patrons who do not bring their own.

Going to your seat

To assist with traffic flow, patrons will enter the auditorium using the door associated with their “Zone” number clearly indicated in the upper left corner of their tickets.

The indoor link from the East End Parking Garage, through the Fredericton Convention Centre (FCC) is not open at this time due to the security measures associated with the Law Courts’ temporary location at the FCC.

While in the Playhouse

Like in a retail store, patrons must endeavour to keep 2 metres between themselves and others who are not part of their household or “close contact bubble.”

Patrons must remain at their assigned seats while in the auditorium and floor markings and signage will assist with physical distancing in lobbies and corridors.

To promote physical distancing, washroom capacity is limited and floor markings will indicate safe distancing while in queues.

Please note, bar/concession services and water fountains are not available at this time.

Cleaning & disinfection

All high-touch surfaces including door handles, railings, counter surfaces, washroom fixtures, and light switches will be cleaned and disinfected prior to, during, and after all events.

The auditorium seating will be disinfected following each performance using a special “fogging” system provided by a licensed professional.

Contact tracing records

Only upon request from public health officials, the name, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers provided on the Playhouse account used to purchase tickets will be securely shared with the NB Department of Health for the purposes of facilitating contact tracing.

Our staff & volunteers

Our team follows a comprehensive COVID-19 Operational Plan that provides protocols and procedures to keep staff, volunteers, artists and visitors safe and to reduce the risk of virus spread. Our plan is informed by the latest advice and guidance of public health officials and includes the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), health checks, physical distancing, and cleaning & disinfection.

If you have any questions about your upcoming visit, please contact us at 506-458-8344 or admin@theplayhouse.ca
