The Fredericton Playhouse Inc. is a charitable, volunteer directed, performing arts venue which was established in 2000. The Playhouse promotes artistic excellence, diversity in programming and accessibility to a wide audience.
At the Playhouse, we believe that arts are for everyone! Financial contributions from sponsors and donors support that belief and play a major role the Playhouse’s ability to maintain the highest artistic standards and to nourish the many, ongoing education and outreach activities which involve thousands of Fredericton youth and families each year.
In addition, giving to the Fredericton Playhouse supports a diverse offering of more than 45 annual performing arts presentations crossing many artistic genres in dance, music, theatre, comedy, circus, musical theatre, etc. and the availability of an arts facility to local organizations in which to present their own amateur community programming at a professional level

Name-A-Seat
As a performing arts venue, our seats are the essence of what we are. In 2004, the Fredericton Playhouse replaced all the seats in the Fredericton Playhouse auditorium, used by thousands of patrons for over 30 years. The new seats were designed especially for concert halls and performing arts centres like the Playhouse. The upholstered back and cushioned seat offer ultimate comfort while the hardwood veneer featured on the rear of the seat backs, armrests and the front panel naturally enhances the house acoustics. Since that time, the new seating has since offered patrons a more comfortable experience while enjoy world-class entertainment.
With thousands of patrons attending performances at The Playhouse every year, it is understandable that the facility show signs of wear. Naming a seat in the Playhouse is a lasting way to help rejuvenate, enhance, and beautify Fredericton’s premiere performance venue.
Each seat you name will bear an engraved brass plate secured to the arm rest of the chair of your choice (depending on availability) and can be inscribed as you wish.
With a tax-deductible donation of $425, you can Name-a-Seat in honour or memory of a loved one, a new family member, a company, a special friend – or yourself! Dedicate a seat as an individual, a couple or a family; in the name of your children, grandchildren or parents; in the name of your business or service organization.
All funds donated to the Name-a-Seat campaign go directly towards the Fredericton Playhouse capital fund used for facility improvements and specialized equipment upgrades. Your generous contribution will help us endow a fund for the maintenance and upgrading for generations to come.
This unique commemoration will last the entire lifetime of the seat. But most importantly, the Name-A-Seat campaign is an ideal way to show your support for the performing arts in our community.
* Each plaque can accommodate 40 characters, including spaces.
Onstage Gala Dinner & Benefit
Each spring, the Onstage Gala Dinner is held in support of the Fredericton Playhouse. The charity benefit event is a celebration of the performing arts in our community. At the same time, the event honours an individual who has contributed to our community through their work in the performing arts (Fredericton Playhouse Honours Program). The evening includes a champagne reception, live performances, and a fabulous dinner held right on the main stage of the Fredericton Playhouse.
Our 2010 Playhouse Honours Recipient is Philip Sexsmith. He was honoured at the OnStage Gala on Saturday, May 1, 2010.
About "The Playhouse Honours" -- In 2007, the Board of Directors of the Fredericton Playhouse initiated a program which honours the contributions of individuals to the performing arts in Fredericton. The purpose of this program is to foster a deeper appreciation of the value that individuals make to community life through their work in the performing arts (music, theatre, dance, spoken word, multidisciplinary arts). The honouree will be feted at the annual Onstage Gala Dinner. As well, a permanent display has been erected in the west gallery of the Playhouse to recognize the honourees.
